"America will go head-to-head with a nuclear power if it allows Ukraine to launch long-range US missiles at Russia."

This is the strong warning given by Russia's outgoing ambassador to the US, Anatoly Antanov, who is expected to return to Moscow after his 7-year term ended.

Antanov has admitted that US-Russia relations are already "at the lowest point in history" and will plunge deeper into uncontrolled chaos if Ukraine receives the green light from Washington to launch ATACMS missiles deep into Russian territory.

After Russian President Vladimir Putin said this would amount to NATO's direct involvement in the conflict, his ambassador repeated the message before returning to Moscow.

"America will not be able to do this across the ocean. A global nuclear catastrophe would affect everyone," said Antanov.

US missiles were first used against Russian forces in Ukraine in early April, but the US has yet to make a decision on whether to allow Kiev to fire them across the border. Joe Biden pledged to deliver the billions of dollars in aid agreed to by Congress earlier this year before leaving office in January, but has so far declined to accept Zelensky's crucial request.

But the war has begun to change shape with Russia seizing a number of Ukrainian villages in recent weeks and Ukraine taking the fight inside its own territory in Kursk, seizing some 500 square miles.

Regarding these developments, Antonov said: "The Ukraine project is only pulling American politicians further into an abyss, from which it is increasingly difficult to get out."

"As we see it, the administration can only respond to the victories of Russian troops in the Donbas and the failure of the provocation by the Ukrainian armed forces in the Kursk region using the same previously bent theses of 'support as long as we can.' . There are zero signals to clients about the need to think about their position and sit down at the negotiating table. Nor is there any hint of stopping the senseless flow of weapons at the expense of local taxpayers," Antonov added further.

Washington is continuing a dangerous discussion about whether to give the Ukrainians permission to strike deep into Russian territory with long-range Western missiles. He claimed that US strategists are already gently modeling the impact that an outbreak of nuclear war would have on Russia and Ukraine.

"At the same time, they mistakenly believe that this catastrophe will affect only Europe and Russia. This is an extremely short-sighted idea. Now, amid talks on long-range missiles, Vladimir Putin has sent a clear warning to the United States and its allies," the Russian ambassador to the US emphasized.

Antonov claimed that Russia's warnings have been met with 'silence and smiles' in the West.

"In America, there is an unwillingness to admit that over the past decades, the West, led by Washington, has repeatedly rejected Moscow's outstretched hand of cooperation. Year after year, it has militarily exploited European territory, carrying out waves of NATO's expansion to the East. It has organized color revolutions and anti-constitutional coups, encircling Russia more and more in a hostile ring, and as a decisive blow it has chosen Ukraine. All this only confirms that the political elites have set themselves task not only to defeat Russia, but to preserve the old world order, based on the rules favorable to NATO countries. We want to change this obviously outdated state of affairs and we want our security interests to be taken into account." added Antonov./A2
