The writer Albatros Rexhaj declares that the Albanians of Albania had the last serious invasion 100 years ago and it did not last long enough to leave a mark on the people, as there are generations that have no memory of what it means to be ruled.

Speaking on the "Arnautistan" show, he recalled that in the early 90's when the movements started, there were comical situations.

"We in Kosovo gave up welfare, although compared to Albania, Bulgaria and Greece, we lived very well. In the years '78-'79 I was 3 years old and I went on vacation by plane, but we decided to give up well-being for freedom, that it was more important than well-being.

Within three months, the economy fell very badly. When we were in contact with the Albanians who had left the dictatorship, they said that the flag is a rag. They came with other ideas and other concepts about freedom. For them freedom was different, for us it was different.

In Pristina we still live with the idea that the war can happen tomorrow and that the enemy never sleeps. But when I discuss them with friends in Tirana, they tell me that I am overdoing it. I am not exaggerating, that the enemy is an enemy until there is a guarantee of peace.

The Albanians of Albania have not felt any real danger of foreign rule for over 100 years and the Albanians of Albania feel safe within the borders of Albania. But this does not apply to Albanians outside Albania. The Albanians of Kosovo and Macedonia are on edge, that without things being clarified well, the danger is real."
