In Paris, Brussels and The Hague, the red alert has been activated. Organized domestic and imported crime is spreading on a massive scale. A few days ago in the French capital, public prosecutor Laura Beko made a very disturbing statement: "The level of the threat is so serious that it risks destabilizing our rule of law, our economic model. We are facing criminal networks with a vast pretense, and with unlimited financial capabilities. Thanks to the income from drugs, human trafficking, prostitution, these organizations are imposing themselves everywhere and by any means: by settling accounts between them, kidnappings, threats and corruption. The penetration of the mafia in our country exceeds the imagination of any kind of film".
Harsh words, raw but true. The situation is very complicated. The emergency is real. Crime is devouring France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. Three years ago, to deal with the many "octopuses" - Balkan, South American, Arab, Chinese, etc. ; a coordination between the police, gendarmerie and secret services, which cooperate closely with colleagues from Belgium and the Netherlands, two other countries heavily infiltrated by crime but also with EUROPOL.
A collaboration that has led to important results, such as the discovery on February 15, 2021 by the Belgian police of the infamous "Sky ECC", an encrypted chat system provided by the Canadian company "Sky Global", specialized in providing systems "of security" of communication.
Considered untraceable, the platform (with a monthly subscription cost of 2,200 euros) was the perfect tool for drug traffickers fascinated by the "kill switch", i.e. by setting a "panic" password, which if used causes the immediate and irreversible deletion of all data on the device.
But what worries most prosecutors and police leaders in France is the "descriptiveness" of police institutions and bodies. In short, corruption. On September 24, 5 former French customs officials were sentenced to long prison terms for having ties to the mafia.
However, the infiltration of the latter seems unstoppable. At every level: mayors, administrators, and maybe even deputies. For Beko, this is a fatal threat for which France is not at all prepared and moreover "in the light of foreign experiences there is no objective reason why our country should be spared". / Il Giornale
