Kosovo Police has today conducted a police operation in the north to stop illegal activities and close five illegal municipalities facilities in northern Kosovo.

The U.S. Embassy in Pristina reacted after saying they were concerned about continued uncoordinated actions.

The U.S. Embassy says today's action in the North of the country increases the deterioration of the partnership between the Government of Kosovo and the U.S.

"The United States and our international partners have repeatedly urged the Government of Kosovo to prioritize coordination with the international community and not take unilateral actions on issues on the EU-facilitated Dialogue agenda. The failure of the Kosovo Government to respond to these demands reflects a real and growing deterioration of our partnership. As we have previously pointed out, the uncoordinated actions of the Government of Kosovo put Kosovo citizens and KFOR soldiers at greater risk, unnecessarily escalate regional tensions and undermine Kosovo's reputation as a reliable international partner.

The U.S. Embassy has highlighted the support it has given to the Kosovo Police for years and stresses that the government's continued instrumentalization of it to carry out uncoordinated actions is not in line with the promise to continue consultations and coordination with the international community.

"The government's actions will also affect the quality and nature of our cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and its subordinate elements," the statement said.
