A robbery similar to the "Far West" movie scripts of Hollywood directors has happened in Italy. Armored vehicles carrying around 3 million euros have been attacked and robbed in the Salento area by an armed group resembling commando forces.

The robbery of the armored vehicles of the Battistoli company took place near Torchiarolo, on the national road that connects Brindisi and Lecce.

According to the initial findings from the carabinieri, the commando group that carried out the super robbery consisted of 8 to 10 people. According to the first reconstruction, the criminals, armed and with their faces covered with hoods, fired several times with Kalashnikovs and burned two cars and a van on the opposite road to prevent the intervention of law enforcement.

In total, the group set fire to six vehicles and after the robbery fled to the surrounding villages, where the police found 300 euros in banknotes, which apparently belong to the stolen loot. The national road 613 is closed to traffic in both directions, while the investigators are on the scene and have been shocked, since the robbers acted on the axis frequented in this period by thousands of tourists going to Salento.

From the first findings of the police, it appears that there were no injuries among the security guards who were inside the armored vehicle.

The vice-chairman of the Antimafia parliamentary commission, Brindisi MP Mauro D'Attis intervened on the matter and asked the Minister of the Interior to intervene decisively to catch the gang that committed the robbery.

The senator of Lecce, Roberto Marti, also requested the intervention of the minister, who "gave him a quick answer", with the meeting of the provincial committee for order and security, saying that "such acts are indescribable and should not be repeated" .
