Four children from an indigenous community in Colombia have been found alive in the south of the country, two weeks after the plane they were traveling in crashed in the middle of the jungle.
The news was given by President Gustavo Petro on social networks who thanked all the people involved in this search and rescue operation that kept the whole country in a state of anxiety for days.
According to the dynamics, the Cessna 206 plane carrying 7 people from Araracuara to San Jose del Guaviare suffered an engine failure due to bad weather and therefore started the call for help at the nearest airport.
Three adults, including the pilot, were found dead at the crash site, while 4 children managed to survive, including an 11-month-old baby.
During the days of the search and rescue operation, the team had hopes of finding survivors after spotting makeshift shelters and eaten fruit in various areas of the jungle.
For this reason, planes and helicopters of the Colombian army were also involved in the operation, whose efforts were not in vain.
