A powerful 6.2 earthquake on the Richter scale was recorded off the coast of Costa Rica this evening.

According to preliminary data, the quake fell about 21 minutes ago at a depth of 19 kilometers and with an epicenter at sea.

There was no tsunami warning or damage.

Costa Rica is in an area of high-sismic activity, where the Caribbean tectonic plates collide, with that of South America, the Cocos plate and the Nazca plate.
