The Special Prosecutor's Office confirmed that it has launched investigations against the General Director of Taxes, Ceno Klosi , for the criminal offenses of corruption and abuse of office .

Sources told VoxNews that SPAK seized the phone of the Director of Taxes, Ceno Klosi , as well as two of his subordinates, the Chief of Cabinet and Director of Refunds,  Gjergj Smokthina. 

SPAK announced that the investigations against Klos were registered on the basis of two reports made by the Democratic Party, one on July 3, 2023 and the second report by DP was made on December 13 of last year.

"On the basis of the criminal complaint sent by the parliamentary group of the political entity Democratic Party, the Special Prosecutor's Office against Corruption and Organized Crime has registered Criminal Proceeding No. 259/2023 dated 13.12.2023, for the criminal offenses "Passive corruption of persons who exercise public functions", "Abuse of duty", "Forgery of documents" and "Fraud", announced the prosecution.

As it results from the official data of the prosecution institution, 7 months after the first report, the opposition filed another report against the Director General of Taxes Klosi.

For the same fact, the Special Prosecutor's Office against Corruption and Organized Crime has registered Criminal Proceeding No. 83/2023 dated 03.07.2023, based on the criminal complaint also sent by the political entity Democratic Party of Albania, for the criminal offenses "Abuse of office " ”, “ Forgery of documents ” and “ Fraud ”. SPAK has decided to merge the two proceedings into one.
