The Fier Prosecutor's Office's file regarding the charges brought against the Bankers company for tax evasion and other tax obligations through balance sheet fraud has also revealed the staggering salaries that a handful of its directors, mostly foreigners, received in Albania.
According to the salary list that is also reflected in the voluminous prosecution file, in 20 years of operation in Albania, Bankers has changed just as many directors, who valued themselves with staggering salaries, up to 20 times the average salary in Albania.
Data from 2014 show that Bankers had the highest salary fund in the country at the time, with a figure of 3.8 billion lek per year, including bonuses.
The average salary per employee was around 557 thousand lek per month.
But, this average is significantly increased by the high salaries of foreigners.
According to the data in the balance sheet, out of about 3.8 billion lek, which is the total of salaries declared and paid for 2014, 2.9 billion lek, or about 76 percent of the fund, went to foreign personnel and about 930 million lek to local personnel.
For Albanian personnel, the average salary is around 1,200 euros per month, while for foreign personnel it reaches 35 thousand euros per month on average, or over 400 thousand euros per year.
This trend was confirmed with the leak of the salary database in 2021, where the same figures were found and Bankers executives were among the highest paid.
