Almost 63% of the total gross written premiums and claims paid in the country are located in Tirana. In second place comes Durrës, which accounts for only 7% of the value of 22.8 billion ALL of premiums, followed by Korça with almost 5% and 4.5% in Vlorë and Fier. Other regions of the country constitute a negligible percentage of the total premiums and the sum of 6.5 billion ALL of damages paid.
Specifically, the district of Tirana counts 14.3 billion gross written premiums, while that of Durrës 1.6 billion. The district that registered the smallest percentage of insurance policies is Kukes with only 201 million premiums, followed by Dibra with 368 million.
Regarding the claims paid, despite the fact that Berat has had a higher value of gross written premiums than Dibra, from the data of the Financial Supervision Authority it appears that the District of Berat has had more cases for payment of claims than Dibra. This means that counties like Berat have faced a higher frequency of insured events, such as natural disasters, accidents or other insurances. The same applies to Gjirokastra, while the district of Kukes continues to have a lower percentage of claims paid, in line with the number of gross written premiums.
Figures from the Financial Supervisory Authority highlight a disparity in the distribution of gross written premiums and claims paid across Albania, with a significant concentration of insurance activity in the capital and a greater decline in other regions. In addition to population density, factors that have contributed to this distribution are economic activity and regional development.
