Tax authorities have published reference salaries for employees in the tourism sector, warning businesses that they will face in-depth checks if they declare salaries lower than these levels.
The salary list has been made public in the tourism sector plan and aims to increase revenues collected from salary taxes, but also social security contributions.
"Taxpayers must accurately declare the real salaries of employees. Any declaration below the reference threshold will be considered a risk indicator and will become the subject of tax audits," the document states.
According to the published list, salaries range from 55 thousand lek to 140 thousand lek per month, depending on the profession.
Reference salary list
Head Chef/Cook: 140,000 lek
Hotel manager: 110,000 lek
Pastry Chef: 130,000 lek
Waiter: 70,000 lek
Receptionist: 63,000 lek

The Tax Administration has called on tourism businesses to update their payrolls and declare real salaries to avoid audits and the penalties that follow.
