At the beginning of November, the government announced that the price of electricity will be reduced for all Albanian families from January 1, 2025.
Invited to the morning show, "7pa5" on Vizion Plus, economic expert Fatos Çoçoli spoke about the categories that benefit, how much pensioners benefit and how much the price of electricity is expected to decrease.
"It will be a general decrease starting from the announcement of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy. So it will be for all families. I wish to go from 9.5 to 8.5 lek per kilowatt-hour. According to some estimates, this could be 50 million euros a year in profit for families. Pensioners are the number one priority. I think it is good that for the pensioners who, since 2015, receive compensation of 650 new lek, this figure should be doubled."
Çoçoli mentioned several reasons that lead to a decrease in energy in January 2025:
Technical and non-technical losses fell from 36% to 19%.
OSHEE has reduced the tariff and increased receipts.
KESH is managing the Drin Cascade well.
Production of large photovoltaic parks has started
