The Transparency Board set record fuel prices yesterday, bringing with it numerous reactions.
Confindustria has urged the government to intervene with fiscal policies to reduce fuel prices.
They demand the dissolution of the Transparency Board and the establishment of the Fuel Regulatory Authority as a permanent professional institution.
"Confindustria demands the immediate intervention of the government to change fiscal policies in order to reduce the price of fuel in the Albanian market. High fuel prices are producing devastating consequences for local production, industries, businesses and Albanian citizens.
The price of fuel in the Albanian market in the first week of June 2022 went to the historical record close to 2.3 euros / liter, the highest in the region and one of the highest in Europe. In Croatia the price of oil is 1.7 euros / liter. Significantly lower prices are in Northern Macedonia, Kosovo, Montenegro, etc.
Confindustria demands as a first intervention the reduction of the fiscal load of fuels to the same levels as the countries of the region. Except with incalculable serious consequences in the national economy very high fuel taxation is the biggest source of fiscal evasion with hundreds of millions of euros to the detriment of the state budget. According to comparative data in Albania is declared almost 20% less fuel consumption from Kosovo when it should have been quite the opposite.
"Confindustria considers that it is necessary to dissolve the Transparency Board and establish the Fuel Regulatory Entity as a permanent professional institution, depending on the Albanian Parliament according to similar examples of neighboring countries", it is said in the reaction of Confindustria.
