Agreement with KfW
In the framework of improving the quality of services provided by OSHEE Group, increasing efficiency and consolidating the energy sector, the Albanian government, through financial cooperation with the government of the Federal Republic of Germany, managed to secure a loan from the KfW bank for the development of the project "Electricity Distribution Investment Program I", which includes the expansion and improvement of the electrical system in Tirana and Durrës counties in Albania.
"Electricity Distribution Investment Program I" is financed by the Loan Agreement between the Republic of Albania (represented by the Ministry of Finance and Economy), OSHEE sh.a. and KfW, approved by Law No. 41/2019 dated 20.06.2019 in the amount of 30,000,000 Euros and the Grant Agreement "Accompanying Measures", approved by VKM No. 311 dated 15.05.2019 in the amount of 2,000,000 Euros.
This Project supports Albania in its efforts to fulfill Sustainable Development Goal 7 "Affordable and clean energy". Furthermore, the project aims to strengthen the distribution network, which currently suffers from congestion in high-demand centers such as Tirana and Durrës, and to create a network that allows two-way electricity flows to accommodate energy consumers. renewables so that energy can be effectively directed to the main centers of demand.
The project will be implemented in Tirana and Durrës counties within the Tirana-Durrës corridor, where the two largest cities of Albania join in a metropolitan area, an area inhabited by more than two thirds of the population.
