INSTAT counts Afghans as tourists: Second for nights-stay after Kosovars

INSTAT released figures for the accommodation facilities for the month of April, where all indicators are on the rise... Including visitors from Afghanistan.

For study purposes, INSTAT divides the country into three areas for calculating accommodative structures. The areas are northern, central and southern.

According to data published by INSTAT, the northern region has suffered the largest increase, both of resident and non-resident visitors.

The wonder is that in non-residents with more nights staying in Albania are also Afghans, starting after Kosovars with 6.9 percent and followed by Italians with 6.6 percent.

Afghans have been sheltering in the Salvini area since autumn last year, when they arrived in our country as part of efforts to flee the Taliban regime after the US withdrawal. Most of them came to Albania as transit to the US. But a good part today has dashed hopes that they will ever travel to the US, Canada or other western countries.
