The good performance of tourism in our country is not only reflected in the figures of the "Institute of Statistics", but also by various international institutions. Albania ranks 66th in the world, out of 119 countries analyzed, in the tourism index published by the "World Economic Forum".
Our country has been evaluated with 3.87 points for 2024, where the overall results range from 1 to 7, where 1 is the worst result and 7 is the best result. Albania is among the 10 countries with the highest increase in points in this index, compared to 2019, with 5.9%.
At the regional level, Albania in this ranking has left behind Serbia, which ranks 68th, North Macedonia in 87th place and Bosnia and Herzegovina in 90th place. In this ranking, only Montenegro is positioned better than us, which ranks 60th.
But where has Albania performed better in this index? According to the data, we have the best results in terms of protection and security, as well as price competitiveness. We also have another positive assessment regarding hygiene or environmental sustainability.
On the other hand, in this index we also have areas where we need to improve. According to the data of the report from the "World Economic Forum", the areas where Albania has performed most negatively are related to natural and cultural resources. Also, we have another negative assessment regarding infrastructure. It is mainly these areas where more work is needed to raise tourism in the coming years.
According to the report, European countries generally seem to have performed well in the tourism index for 2024.
