Investment funds have continued their steady growth even during the month of June this year. According to the data published by the Financial Supervision Authority, until the end of June this year, the net value of the assets of investment funds reached about ALL 53.2 billion, with an increase of ALL 2.9 billion or 5.77%, compared to the beginning of the year.
Also, the number of members in these funds reached 34,411 from 32,189 at the beginning of the year, or an increase of 6.9%. So, in the span of 6 months, 2,222 members have been added to the investment funds. The vast majority of members are individuals, while only 37 are legal entities.
Like pension funds, this market is also dominated by investments in government bonds, which make up 62.8% of the funds' assets, with an increase of 4.18% compared to the beginning of the year. If we look at the asset structure of investment funds, a decline in investments in corporate bonds is noticeable. At the end of 2023, investments in corporate bonds accounted for 14.95% of the total, while at the end of the first 6 months of this year, this indicator fell to 9.88%.
Despite the increasing trend of both the net asset value of investment funds and the number of members, the figures are still far from the record levels recorded in 2021. In this year, the assets reached about ALL 77.7 billion, while the number of members in over 40 thousand. The market of investment funds suffered major shocks in 2022, because high inflation caused central banks to raise interest rates, which also affected the increase in yields in financial markets.
During the first half of this year, 15 investment funds operated in the investment funds market, but they are managed by 6 companies.
