By forcing their customers to take out new loans to pay off the old ones, putting pressure on customers' relatives to pay loans that they had repaid on time or threatening them with property foreclosure, two non-bank financial entities, namely Micro Credit Albania and Final with over 15 thousand and 16 thousand customers, extorted the citizens.
Just a week ago, the Bank of Albania announced the revocation of licenses for these companies. But what will happen to the borrowers of these two companies?
It is estimated that 90% of the clients of Micro Credit Albania have received a court decision, or are in the process of executors. The value of bad loans in this company is 9.6 billion ALL and 10% of it has been recovered. While, for the company Final, the monetary value has not been announced, but it is known that 90% of the clients are in execution.
The client portfolio of these companies is already under the control of the Bank of Albania. They have been given an email address and contact number, where they can express their complaints and requests for clarification or they can immediately address the relevant office within the Bank of Albania or the employees of the latter at the physical address of the MCA institutions and FINAL. A working group has been set up in the Bank of Albania for the careful handling of these cases and the State Cadastre Agency has been notified of the decision to revoke licenses, in order not to take actions related to the alienation of clients' properties.
In addition to problem loans, these entities have a large number of performing loans, so currently there are talks with second-level banks to return these loans to the banking system. While solving other problematic cases will require more time, as the liquidator will also be involved in this process. The Central Bank is verifying the database from the companies' servers to see the total number of customers. Pursuing these customers will no longer have a profit approach, but a customer service approach.
