Azerbaijan is ready to mitigate the serious consequences that are expected to bring this winter to Europe, the reduction of Russian gas imports.

Quoted by Radio Free Europe, the Azeri Minister of Energy, Parviz Shahbazov, promised to increase the gas exported to Europe to 12 billion cubic meters, increasing this year's export quota by 30% compared to last year.

For the European Union, this is good news as the union prepares for a difficult winter as Moscow continues to block the flow of the Nord Stream 1 pipeline that supplies the continent with Russian gas, due to the attack in Ukraine.

Currently, the largest buyers of Azeri gas are the countries of the European Union, where Azerbaijan exports 51% of the total.

A good part is transported by the TAP gas pipeline that passes through Albania.

Union countries are trying to increase supplies from other sources to reduce dependence on Russian gas and reduce energy costs that have reached very high levels.
