Hell is not decorated! No one has the right to do this to those who were in hell…
The infamous Spaç prison, where thousands of opponents of the Enver dictatorship suffered cruelly, where those who dared and rose up in the great revolt were shot or severely re-punished, now entered into history as among the few and most heroic in the entire communist empire, but the only one where the National Flag was raised without the red star, where people were killed in mines under primitive conditions, where we worked like slaves, where we died of hunger and there were no cemeteries, we lived in dormitories with nothing, with bricks like reptile scales, where over 50 people crammed together slept in a cave-like room, with straw mattresses three rows above each other, destroyed windows where the winter wind and rain entered and the crazy police watched, where no clothes other than the prison ones were allowed, no shoes or wristwatches, kitchens with smoke like gas in Nazi camps, etc., etc., an infirmary without medicine, where alcohol was the police drank with their spies, with those in the service of the command, barbershops, water pipes with holes from which ice-cold water flowed, bathrooms without doors, stairs and bags of garbage, pillars, barking loudspeakers, the alcove for rare meetings with family members - separated by bars into a small room the size of the command dog's hut, the place surrounded by barbed wire once, twice, three times, four times, five... and mountains, streams of black water that came out of the mine shafts like the mouths of a lynx, the dense towers of the settlements with beams like monsters, etc., etc.
WHY?
- Once upon a time, a great crime was committed, that such an inhumane political prison was built...
- Secondly, they left it to decay, a testimony was being destroyed, it was being sunk into the mists of oblivion by governments...
Lately - they want to make it a museum, very good, but not to alienate it, if that's what's happening, not to embellish it like it wasn't, to leave it the way our ancestors did...
MOVIE?
It's being renovated for a movie, I'm hearing these days that it's going to be shot there...
The script for the film, "Uprising in Hell", was written by me, a former prisoner of Spaç, the film's director and supervisor is Namik Ajazin, a former prisoner like me, his father and thousands of Albanians, and the state has been asked through the prime minister, whoever he may be (because we did not appoint him, but he was elected), to support the film, as a narrative of our suffering and resistance and uprising, for a free, democratic, Euro-Atlantic Albania, an honor for history and pride for the people, who did not all kneel.
The state has a duty, it has the money, it is ours, even from the unpaid labor of thousands and thousands of political prisoners during the decades of real socialism in mines, draining swamps, opening canals, foundations, building palaces, terraces, stadiums and even the capital's airport, etc., etc.
The state should condemn the state crime of the Enver dictatorship, bring out its political criminals, bring them back from where they have been hiding, not recycle them, punish Socialist Realism and evil!
The state should not delay or avoid the culture of our memory!...
To remake the Spaç prison as a museum like Auschwitz, as part of human memory, as it was, authentic, if not possible, not to embellish it, let them tell their fathers then to do it as they would like now - as a make-up for the great state crime, hell is hell, it simply needs to be witnessed, remembered as a dark truth, in order not to repeat itself...
This is what we would like to do with the film, a tribute to suffering and martyrdom, blood and resistance, dreams and the future...
The state should not hinder it if it cannot support great art as a national treasure!
