A powerful fire broke out in the early hours of Sunday in the village of Palokastra, in Gjirokastra, endangering homes in the area. The flames appeared in a bushy area at the entrance to the village and spread rapidly, threatening the homes of residents.

Fortunately, thanks to the rapid and coordinated intervention of the fire brigade, the fire was brought under control and isolated without causing further damage to people or property. Despite the fire being in difficult terrain and close to homes, the fire brigade managed to prevent any more serious consequences.

The Fire and Rescue Directorate (FRD) in Gjirokastra has called for increased caution from citizens to prevent fires from starting.
