Some mail-in ballot boxes have been damaged or completely destroyed in several cities in the United States of America.

The incidents occurred in Vancouver, Oregon and Portland, where the boxes appear to have been deliberately set on fire by unidentified people.

In some cases, authorities have found an incendiary substance dumped inside the boxes. Hundreds of votes that were in these boxes were destroyed or damaged.

The American FBI stated that it has started investigations related to this incident, while the local authorities said that the election staff will now collect the votes cast in the boxes more often, a process that was previously carried out at least once a week.

Mail-in ballot boxes have often been at the center of debate, conspiracy theories about rigging US elections, and attacks by former president and current Republican candidate Donald Trump.
