The vice-president of the Calabria region, Guiseppina Princi, has expressed her pride to represent Calabria at the Diaspora Summit on Arbëresh Day at the Palace of Congresses. During her speech, Giuseppina Princi stated that the people of Arbëresh are loyal to their origin, as she added that they are an example of preserving the identity of the people.

Giuseppina Princi: I am pleased and proud to represent the province of Calabria at this important moment. For more than 5 centuries, it has hosted the largest Arbëresh communities. The story of the Arber community in Calabria shows the drama and rebirth of Albanian refugees who fled to escape Turkish persecution. That of Arbëresh in Italy is not only a story of escape and despair, but has become an example of wonderful integration and tradition. Albanians have known how to preserve their roots over time showing a strength with their homeland that should be taken as an example for all peoples and this becomes even more visible in today's society that has become more and more conformist. The people of Arbers, loyal to their origins, have managed to distinguish themselves positively because they prove their tradition and are setting an example of preserving their identity, preserving their language and keeping their traditions.

It was not achieved through forms of isolation from the outside, the strong point of this people was the fact that it knew how to intertwine with the country of origin. Albanians have known how to integrate with the local population by harmonizing elements. The basis for starting new strategies that place the assessment between the Arber community and Albania in the center, in the framework of the provincial program, a part of the funding comes and is destined for the assessment of the Arber culture in Calabria, intervenes through various forms for the patronage of the main events to make it possible to recognize not only in Calabria, but throughout Italy, the beauty of Calabrian places. We are pleased about the friendship that is developing with Albania and in particular with Calabria because it represents a great opportunity to make it possible for the communities to grow in economic terms and in cultural and social terms.
