The car that caused the accident

Initially, it was suspected that a 53-year-old man had died yesterday after falling on the Laç-Milot axis, but police investigations have revealed the true dynamics of the event.

The 53-year-old man was hit by a 28-year-old man who was driving a "Benz" type car, on this axis. The latter was handcuffed by the police, after leaving the scene.

"From these actions, it turned out that the ES citizen collided with a vehicle, the LK citizen and left the scene of the accident. As a result, the 53-year-old man died at the scene", informs the police.

Full police statement:

The incident that happened yesterday afternoon, on the "Laç-Milot" road axis, where a 53-year-old man was found dead on the road, was revealed, an event which was initially reported as an accidental fall.

The 28-year-old man was identified, caught and put in handcuffs, who from the investigations showed that he hit the 53-year-old man with a vehicle, and then left the scene of the accident.

The vehicle is seized.

As a result of the investigative actions carried out by the specialists of the Section for the Investigation of Crimes in cooperation with the Road Circulation services of the Local Police Directorate of Lezhë, to clarify the event that happened around 18:00, on 05.11.2023, on the road axis "Laç-Milot", where it was initially suspected that he accidentally lost his life, as a result of falling on the road, being in a drunken state, citizen LK, 53 years old, resident of Kurbin, citizen ES, 28, was identified and arrested years old, resident in Kurbin.

From these actions, it resulted that the ES citizen collided with a vehicle, the LK citizen and left the scene of the accident. As a result, the 53-year-old man died at the scene.

Subsequently, as material evidence, the "Benz" type vehicle belonging to the ES citizen was seized

The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecution at the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Lezhë, for further actions.
