New details have been revealed from the arrest of the Director of the Environment in the Municipality of Tirana, Viola Sterjo, who deceived some citizens by promising grants from AZHBR in exchange for a bribe of thousands of euros.

More specifically, 4 complaints against her, by citizens from Korça and Pogradeci, have been revealed.

On December 12, 2022, a citizen from Korca, who had a property in Voskopoja and wanted to build a hotel, filed a complaint with the Korca prosecutor's office. Through an acquaintance, he had met Viola Sterjon, an employee of ANA at the time, who had promised him that she would intervene at AZHBR to get a grant. Initially, the informant gave Sterjo 57 thousand euros and 1,000,000 ALL.

A citizen from Pogradec has also filed a complaint that he gave Viola Sterjos different amounts, 9 thousand euros first and then 28 thousand euros to interfere with AZHBR to get a grant of 1.2 million euros to build a hostel.

Referring again to the investigation file, another citizen from Korça gave Sterjo 160,000 euros after she promised him a grant of 2.2 million euros. After several months, the whistleblower, who did not receive the grant, asked Sterjo to return the amount of lek. But she had told him that the grant from 2.2 million euros would go to 4.5 million euros.

Another citizen from Korça who, together with two partners, was going to build a resort in Voskopoja, Sterjo received 90 thousand euros, deceiving him that he had applied to AZHBR for the construction of the resort worth 2 million euros.

From the sum of 90 thousand euros, Sterjo has returned 20 thousand euros to the whistleblower, after the latter was informed that no application was made in his name to receive financing. With a notarial contract, Sterjo acknowledged the obligation of 90,000 euros and if she did not pay it back within 6 months, she would leave her father-in-law's apartment as a guarantee.
