The Durrës Court has upheld the "prison arrest" measure for Majlind Habibi , who killed his friend in Durrës Hospital after throwing him off a bridge into a sewage canal.

The 35-year-old appeared before the jury today and denied the murder charges, saying he was at work the night the crime occurred.

In his testimony before the court, Habibi said that he had previously confessed to the crime out of fear after being raped by the police.

He claims that someone else who wanted to hurt him, stated that it was the 35-year-old who had a conflict with Branko Shkoza at the bridge during dinner and then pushed him.

"My wife ran away from home with our 4-year-old child and is pregnant from this incident. I ask the prosecutor to open the security cameras because I was at work when the incident happened. Branko and I grew up together. They raped me at the police station to make me admit it, I admitted it out of fear and because I don't know why I did it, but that I did it. Someone else who wanted to hurt me said that I did it, but I have nothing to do with it," Majlid Habibi said in court.

The serious incident occurred on December 2nd when Mjalindi and Branko had a conflict on the bridge.

The argument between the two friends occurred after Majlindi claimed that Branko had harassed his wife and, in a fit of rage, pushed her and threw her into the sewer.

Branko's body was found a few days later in the sewage canal, while local residents confirmed that it was the 35-year-old who pushed his friend off the bridge.
