The Court of Appeal has upheld the sentence of life imprisonment for Mejit Picari accused of murdering his son-in-law,  Kudret Saliaj .

As for his daughter,  Dhurata Saliaj , the sentence was reduced to 4 years and 6 months of imprisonment, while the Court of Tirana sentenced the victim's wife to 30 years in prison.

The appeal overturned the charge brought against her for complicity in the murder, convicting her of creating the conditions to commit the murder.

The serious incident happened at noon on June 4 in a bar near the Civil Court, in Tirana, where the 53-year-old killed the girl's husband, Kudret Saliaj, who were in the process of divorce, in the middle of the bar.

The murder of the 41-year-old happened a few minutes before the 5th divorce hearing, the victim's lawyer, Adriatik Cama, was also injured.

Kudret Saliaj was near the court having a coffee with his lawyer when his father-in-law approached him and shot him dead.

The conflict over the custody of the children brought the murder to the Court of Tirana, where the mother would meet them in the presence of the psychologist.
