The murder of VAJDIN LAMES/ GJKKO overturns the request of SPAK for the

The Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime rejected the SPAK's request to stop the investigation against Lulzim Berisha, accused of murdering Vajdin Lame in 2005.

GJKKO decided to return the file to complete investigations and gave SPAK 4 months.

We recall that Lulzim Berisha was arrested in Spain in mid-December 2023 on behalf of the Albanian authorities.

Considered as the former leader of the Durrës Gang, Lulzim Berisha has a long ordeal of court proceedings with Albanian justice.

Specifically, in 2012 he was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Court of Durrës for several serious crimes, this sentence was overturned in July 2014 by the Supreme Court.

The latter ultimately sentenced him to 25 years in prison, but only two years after this sentence he was released from prison, specifically in December 2016. Four years after he gained his freedom, another criminal trial started against Lulzim Berisha, where he was again declared in search of justice.

SPAK accuses him of participating in the murder of Klodian Saliu, Vajdin Lame and his friend Artan Arsi, which happened in 2005.

As if these were not enough, in 2021, the Supreme Court overturned the decision to release Lulzim Berisha in 2016 and demanded his return to prison.

After his arrest in Spain, Albania has started the procedures for his extradition.
