Triple murder: How Sokol Hoxha escaped for 10 years without being arrested in

Sokol Hoxha, accused of three murders, has been arrested several times since 2010, both at border points in Albania and in other countries.

However, he was always released. The reason was the existence of two people with the same general characteristics, including first name, last name, and birthday.

Unfortunately, in each case, the detainee was the wrong person, at least until May 5, 2026.

In Ohio, USA, an announcement was made about the capture of the real wanted fugitive, but it turned out that he was actually using a different identity.

American authorities discovered that he used the false name Hysen Gashi, 58, from Kosovo. In this way, he was able to escape the eyes of law enforcement for 10 years.

It was fingerprints and identification through intelligent cameras for facial features that revealed the situation and the Albanian authorities were further notified.

This Thursday, 51-year-old gunman Sokol Hoxha, the perpetrator of three murders in 1997, was extradited from the US to Albania. He arrived at Rinas Airport accompanied by numerous police forces.

In 2000, the Fier Court sentenced him to 25 years in prison for the murder of two brothers in Patos, in collaboration with another citizen.

Even on the run, the 51-year-old did not stop his illegal activities, staying in Greece and then in Belgium. According to investigations by foreign law enforcement agencies, his main activity in Brussels was prostitution.

It is even suspected that Sokol Hoxha had fabricated a marriage with Brunilda Dervish, but he used her for prostitution, until he killed her in a bar in Brussels. 

He was sentenced to life imprisonment for this murder in 2010. Meanwhile, after the murder in Belgium, he fled first to the United Kingdom and then to the United States, where he remained in hiding for many years.
