The murder of Pjerin Xhuvan/ The lawyer opposes Paplekaj's demands: It will

Lawyer Rezarta Tahiraj, the representative of Pjerin Xhuvan's family, has opposed the hypothesis of the transfer from Elbasan to Tirana of the trial of Arbë Paplekaj, who is accused of murdering the doctor, an event that occurred on April 21, 2021.

Tahiraj, who represents the victim's family members in the role of the civil party, has sent to the Supreme Court an extensive documentation that contradicts, point by point, all the motives that the defendant Arbër Paplekaj wrote, through his lawyer, in the request for the transfer of the process from Elbasan, which is the city where the crime took place, towards Tirana.

"Our position is in total opposition to the request for the transfer of this process and we consider their requests absolutely not based on evidence, in addition to being unreasonable and some may even result in violation of the law," she said.

TCh writes that referring in particular to the hypothesis of economic savings for the State in the event that the defendant would not be forced to go to Elbasan but to stay in Tirana for the process, lawyer Tahiraj has explained in the documents filed in the Supreme Court that the real saving for the State and for all the other defendants is leaving the procedural seat unchanged, i.e. the process for the lawyer of the Civil Party, it is very logical and useful, even for the State, to stay in Elbasan.

Attorney Tahiraj in the Supreme Court has explained all the other motives that lead to the justification of the rejection of the request to transfer this process to reference, even with the hypotheses of risk for the accused of murder.

The case of the murder of Pjerin Xhuvan has been sent for trial. After several postponements, in the seventh session held in Elbasan, the decision was taken without the presence of the accused Arbë Paplekaj himself. The security measure of "prison arrest" was reconfirmed for the latter, while the same security measure of "house arrest" was left active for the two former deputy police directors, Niko Palla and Albert Nushi.

How did the murder happen?

Më 21 prill 2021, 4 ditë para zgjedhjeve parlamentare të 25 prillit, në Elbasan u vra Pjerin Xhuvani, përkrahës i Partisë Socialiste. Paplekaj ishte pjesë e një "SMV", strukture për Mbrojtjen e Votës e ngritur në Elbasan nga PD. Pas një sherri verbal pasi SMV dyshonte se Xhuvani ishte pjesë e një grupi që blinin vota, ndodhi vrasja ku mbeti i pajetë Xhuvani dhe u plagosën 4 persona të tjerë.

From the day of his arrest until today, the former officer of RENEA, Arbër Paplekaj, who is accused of shooting to death Xhuvan and his son-in-law, Eltjon Bodinak, is in handcuffs. It is not yet known who shot Emiljano Prenga and Paulo Vuksan, both ex-policemen. Paplekaj, a former operative of RENEA, surrendered and admitted the crime, saying that he had carried out the attack after being shot earlier.
