An unusual event occurred on Thursday morning in the Bami Tomb area in Tirana, where a young man, Lilo Shehu , became the protagonist of a heroic act, risking his life to save a person who had collided with a car and lost consciousness.

Lilo, who was in his shop at the time of the incident, told Euronews Albania that everything happened very quickly:

"I heard a loud noise, I started and saw that there was a bigger noise and tires were spinning. That's when I realized that someone had lost consciousness and that my instinct told me to act."

At the time of the accident, the vehicle was emitting smoke due to a tire blowout, and the driver had fainted.

"Now, when I watch the video, I think about how I did this. Sometimes, actions happen by themselves, when your conscience calls you, because I saw that it was a critical situation, but my instinct told me to act. I knew that it could be a potential disaster and I had to intervene," Lilo explained.

He says he took the driver's foot off the gas pedal and turned off the car key.

"However, we can call the gentleman in front a hero, who braked with his car, slowly slowing down the vehicle of the person who had lost consciousness. I took his foot off the gas pedal and turned off the key, returning the situation to normal, and he began to regain consciousness. I would like to emphasize that there were other people who helped, and if any car had passed, it could have caused an explosion. We took him out of the car and gave him water; fortunately he was mentioned and the police arrived very quickly, within three minutes, clarifying the situation. After that, they accompanied him to the hospital for checkups," says Lilo Shehu.

The injured driver was taken to the hospital for medical check-ups, where fortunately his condition improved.

Lilo Shehu indicated that he did not do his action to attract attention.

“I didn’t want to make news out of this incident. It was instinct. I saw a man in need and I couldn’t help but intervene,” he said. “For me, it was a natural action and I’m glad the driver is okay.”

Lilo's family expressed concern about his actions, but the young man assured that everything was done out of instinct and the desire to save a life.

" I watched the video of the incident and I still think about how I did it. I don't know if it was my instincts that guided me at that moment, but I want to emphasize that I didn't do it to be part of a public event. It was just an instinctive reaction. I think I helped that man, who fortunately is now fine, has gone to the hospital and I wish him health and all the best. I'm saying it once again, every action was natural and I don't even know how I managed to do it ," said Lilo .
