In the revealed decision of the court of Korça for the appointment of the security measure against Denis Meçe , arrested as the author of the murder of Egli Proga on August 10, 2024 in Pogradec.

The murder happened in the vicinity of the place called "Ajzensia", at the roundabout, neighborhood no. 2 in Pogradec.

For Denis Meçe, the police had referred the material to 'intentional murder', while the Prosecution reduced the charge to 'negligent murder' with the argument that the materials brought by the police qualified the criminal offense in this charge.

In the divulged decision of August 13 of the judge of Korça, Luljeta Kole, it is revealed that Meçe slept in the car after leaving the scene.

Then, after it was mentioned, he called the lawyer and asked him to accompany him to the police station.

In the court session, the lawyer said that the 29-year-old had the will to explain what happened, since he did not intend to kill the father of two children, nor to leave.

" Lawyer Eduart Muçi stated in court that his client Denis Meçe had no intention of hiding from justice, his departure immediately after the event was involuntary and in the conditions where he was drunk. 

He slept in the vehicle until he was mentioned, he called him as a lawyer, and after he was explained what had happened, he himself asked them to accompany him to the Police Station.

His will was to give explanations about what happened, since he did not intend to commit the murder of a citizen, nor to leave, despite the fact that the consequence is serious and we are dealing with the loss of a life Guarantee
1 million lek not to put him in prison

The file also reveals that the lawyer requested a guarantee of 1 million ALL for the change of the security measure "house arrest", but the court did not accept it.

According to the defense, the arrest of this citizen in flagrante delicto should be considered as legal, but it is required that this citizen be assigned another security measure, different from the arrest in prison, taking into account the margin of punishment provided by the provision, the circumstances of the offense criminal case, the way the incident happened, the attitude of the person under investigation, the fact that he has not been convicted before, the fact that there is no possibility of escaping or hiding from justice, the fact that there is no possibility of harm or destruction of evidence. The court is requested to set "house arrest" provided by Article 237 of the Penal Code or "Property guarantee" in the amount of ALL 1,000,000 as a security measure, which is a significant amount and guarantees the court that if this person hides from justice, the economic damage will be too great.
He apologized to the court

Denis Meçe has apologized and said that he is sorry for what happened, as he did not intend to harm and even more so kill the deceased.

The citizen under investigation Denis Meçe himself stated that he agrees with what the lawyer presented. He apologizes and is very sorry for what happened, since he had no intention of harming and even more so killing the deceased ," the decision reads.

On August 12, the Court of Korça ordered the security measure of 'imprisonment' for Denis Meçe on the charge of manslaughter' and 'obligation to appear' for the other three detainees accused of 'not reporting the crime' Voltan Shulku, Arian Manellari and Leonidha Guçe.
