Robert Ndrenika, Erion Veliaj

Renowned actor Robert Ndrenika has reacted after the debate created online and in public opinion regarding his meeting with the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj.

Invited to the show "Albania Live" in a live broadcast, Ndrenika explained that his presence with Veliaj was completely personal and not related to political interests or personal benefits.

The artist also addressed the comments and criticism he received after the publication of the meeting, saying that some of them upset him, while others made a positive impression on him.

Among other things, he also spoke about his early relationship with Veliaj, the debates over the National Theater, and the accusations that have been raised against him on social networks.

When you made the statement, did you think there would be so many comments?

Ndrenika: I didn't think so. I felt like someone I've known since childhood, it was something personal.

Are you annoyed by the comments?

Ndrenika: They've made me sad, but some have also made me happy.

Do you think you were misunderstood?

Ndrenika: There are many cases where I have been misunderstood. For example, it was a stupid thing to say that he gave me the house. I inherited the house from the time of Fan Noli.

You have been accused of personal interests, while you were there as a friend...

Ndrenika: Yes, yes, yes. Since he was a student in grade 7.

You said he's like your adopted son...

Ndrenika: That's how I felt, like I was adopted (laughs). I loved him very much. I even went to him for coffee. He loved me and I loved him.

There were also comments from colleagues at the theater, who said: "Why did you support him, because he ruined our theater?"

Ndrenika: All the predecessors were saying: “When will a new theater be built?” That theater that sustained us for 50 years was a shambles. The way it was demolished, or the fact that it had to be demolished, despite the political conflict between the DP and the SP, was another matter.

Were you able to communicate with your colleagues?

Ndrenika: Many have told me that I did very well to go.
