Today, the international lawyers of Mayor Erjon Veliaj have warned that they will take the issue of the security measure of arrest in prison to the Strasbourg Court.

The file requires the signature of the mayor of Tirana, which is why foreign lawyers requested a meeting with Veliaj in detention this Thursday.

Meanwhile, on September 15, the Supreme Court reasons whether the extreme measure is proportional to the duty that Veliaj has as elected mayor.

The Mayor of Tirana, Erjon Veliaj, has been in detention in Durrës since February 2025, on a series of charges by SPAK, which he has denied, while the case against him is in the main trial.
