An Albanian lost his life in Italy as a result of a road accident.
The incident occurred on Thursday night when the 67-year-old, whose name has not been made public, was hit by a car while walking.
The accident occurred on a provincial road in Valperga. According to media reports, the injuries he sustained were severe and he died at the scene.
The same sources say that the Albanian had just bought some work equipment, including a chainsaw. With the new equipment, he was heading home, where for reasons that are still unknown, he was hit by an Audi Q2 while crossing the road.
Police say there were no brake lights on the road and the collision was very powerful, throwing the 67-year-old at least 30 meters from the scene.
"I knew him, he was a regular customer of our store, a very kind man," said the owner of the store where the Albanian had been shortly before the tragic accident.
In connection with the incident, the police detained a 71-year-old man who was driving the car. He gave a statement to the police and was later taken to the hospital in a state of shock.
