Albi Mecini, arrested the day before after being caught with explosives mounted on a mobile phone, ready to explode, appeared before the court this Thursday, under strict security measures.

Mecini is accused of kidnapping two friends, Leonard Theodhori and Fatmir Sulovari, four months ago in Saranda.

Meanwhile, for the kidnapping of two 46-year-olds, 25-year-old Sebastian Lataj is wanted for the criminal offense of "Kidnapping or holding a person hostage".

The investigations led the police to these names, but not to finding the bodies of the missing persons who have been persistently searched for since April 9 by their families. The police are also reserved in terms of the motives of the event, as there are suspicions about other people involved.

But kidnapping was not Mecin's only criminal activity.

By arresting him, the police prevented a serious criminal event that could have serious consequences in people's lives. The 29-year-old man was caught by the Operational Forces on the "Mbrostar-Fier" road axis, where in his vehicle there were 2 bags inside which were 2 packages of about 21 kilograms of artisanal explosives, assembled with mobile phones, for remote detonation.

Also, from the control of the area, another vehicle was found, inside of which there were 3 canisters of gasoline fuel.

From the investigative actions, it appears that the 29-year-old, in collaboration with the 27-year-old from Dibra Arafat Manërkolli and Ervis Cukalin, who were declared wanted, had provided these conditions and tools, with the aim of committing a serious criminal event.
