The Court of Appeal in Tirana has declared Ergys Kolaveri innocent. He was arrested with fanfare in 2016 when he shot with a sniper in the direction of a cell in Vaqarri prison, targeting Gazmir Dacin, leaving another prisoner injured.

In 2017, he was sentenced to 20 years in prison by the Court of Serious Crimes, being found guilty of the charges of "Murder for blood feud", remaining in the attempt, "Deliberate serious injury", "Illegal possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition" and "Producing, keeping, buying or selling cold weapons without a permit".

But now all these charges have been dropped and he has gained full freedom even though he left the cell in 2020, being placed under house arrest.

The other citizen Enea Caka, who was arrested for not reporting the crime, was also declared innocent.

Ergys Kolaveri is suspected of killing Gazmir Daci for revenge. The enmity of the Kolaveri-Daci families began in 2015 when Gazmir Daci killed his brother Valmir Kolaverin on October 4, 2015 and left his other brother Robert Kolaverin paralyzed. The Kolaveri brothers had beaten Elson Dacin, Gazmir's brother, in the basement of an apartment in France, because the latter was disrupting their deals for the transportation of clandestines and taking their clients. Upon returning to Albania, Gazmir Daci demanded an account from them in a bar, but the fight ended with murder and injuries.

Gazmir Daci was sentenced to 35 years in prison for murder and wounding, but the third brother Ergys Kolaveri allegedly did not leave it at that. It was through a sniper Ergys Kolaveri that he was accused of trying to kill Gazmir Dacin on the afternoon of July 30, 2016, but he escaped after wounding Kosovar Lili Dulaj. Only a few binoculars were found in Kolaveri's vehicle, but not the weapon with which he tried to kill Gazmir Dacin, as he was accused.
