The Special Court's appeal has upheld the "prison arrest" measure for the three former police officers accused of international drug trafficking with Greece.
Erdit Hazizaj, Shkëlzen Ruskaj and Ervis Alisinanaj will remain in solitary confinement until another decision is made, while the one given by the first instance of the GJKKO remains in force.
The three defendants had requested a change in security measures through their lawyers, but it was overturned today.
"The Special Court of Appeal for Corruption and Organized Crime, with a monocratic panel composed of judge Florjan Kalaja, today on 09.04.2025, announced the decision on criminal case no. 26, act, date 02.04.2025 registration, on the appeal of the person under investigation EH, Sh.R., and EA, with the subject: "Appeal against decision no. 17, date 28.02.2025 and Decision no. 28, date 03.03.2025 of the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime", the GJKKO announcement states, among other things.
The measure was issued during the session of March 3 of this year by the GJKKO, while it was appealed on April 2 by the arrested.
The suspects are charged with "cultivation of narcotic plants" and "structured criminal group." The defendants have 45 days to appeal to the High Court.
