A 28-year-old man with a significant criminal record has been arrested by the police after a series of violent incidents that endangered the lives of citizens of Kavaja this morning. The perpetrator, identified by the initials MC, was arrested after an extensive search operation, after threatening customers of a bar with a weapon, hitting the owner and causing several road accidents while attempting to escape from law enforcement.

Attack inside the bar

The incident began at around 09:40, when the Kavaja Police Station received an urgent report of a serious incident in the city's neighborhood no. 2. According to police sources, the 28-year-old entered a bar-cafe armed with a gun, where he initially threatened two of the customers present. The situation further escalated when he hit the business owner, 64-year-old SV, in the head with the butt of his pistol, causing him minor physical injuries.

Escape and successive accidents

Upon receiving the notification, Police patrols headed to the scene. To escape arrest, the aggressor drove away at high speed in a “Range Rover” vehicle, initially damaging a parked car.

The Operational Forces of the Durrës Local Police Directorate were also involved in his capture, and they pursued the vehicle. During the escape, due to the high speed, the young man lost control of the vehicle, colliding with the traffic divider and another random vehicle on the road. After this double accident, he abandoned the “Range Rover” and fled on foot, throwing away the crime weapon to hide the evidence.

Arrest and material evidence

The Blues of Durrës and Kavaja organized a wide cordon of the area. After several hours of intensive searches and the use of special investigation methods, the operational forces managed to locate and neutralize the 28-year-old, who was hiding in a hotel in the Shkëmbi i Kavaja area.

During a search of the area where the escape on foot took place, officers found the pistol used in the crime in a ditch, which was seized as evidence. Meanwhile, during a search of the abandoned vehicle, a magazine of combat ammunition was also found.

INVESTIGATIONS

Citizen MC is known by the authorities as a person with a criminal past in the field of narcotics and illegal possession of weapons. Currently, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, the investigative group is continuing its work to fully clarify the circumstances and legally document this serious case that jeopardized public safety.
