"To recognize the probation service", the request of Saimir Tahir for the reduction of the sentence is examined today in the Court of Elbasan

Former Minister of the Interior Saimir Tahiri asks the Court of Elbasan to recognize the time during which he has served part of the sentence given on September 19, 2019.

It is about the first sentence, where the former minister was sentenced to 3 years and 4 months of probation. Tahiri claims to have repaid most of this sentence.

If the Court of Elbasan accepts this request, his sentence will be reduced by at least 1 and a half years, from the 3.4 years he was sentenced to.

On February 4, the Special Court of Appeals for Corruption and Organized Crime upholds the first-instance decision, with the change that Tahiri will serve a 5-year sentence in prison.

Due to the reduced sentence, Tahiri is serving a sentence of 3 years and 4 months in prison.
