The Albanian Parliament's deputies will return to work as the new parliamentary session begins today. The Conference of Speakers will meet during the day, where the calendar and work program for the next five weeks will be reviewed.
This second session of the 11th Legislature will officially open with the plenary session scheduled for 5:00 p.m. Shortly before the session, around noon, a meeting of the parliamentary committee on reforms, headed by Fatmir Xhafa, will be held.
Reforms are expected to be the main topic of this session, while we recall that Prime Minister Rama has warned that the Socialists will no longer tolerate the opposition obstructing the work of the Assembly through certain procedures.
During a speech after the end of the Socialist parliamentary group meeting held two days ago, Rama emphasized his readiness for dialogue, but warned that in its absence, reforms will be implemented only by the majority.
Rama also requested that working hours be extended and that the number of parliamentary sessions be increased.
Among the most urgent reforms expected to be addressed, the Socialists list electoral and territorial changes, which must be completed by July to be applied in the 2027 local elections with a new Code and map.
According to the agenda made public on the Parliament's website, the plenary session will open with discussions by the heads of parliamentary groups, the approval of the minutes of the previous session and various announcements, according to the agenda approved by the Speaker of the Parliament Niko Peleshi.
