This Monday, a preliminary hearing will be held at the Criminal Court of Tirana against the Mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj, his wife, Ajola Xoxa, and other suspects in the case.

The reason for the postponement of the previous session was the absence of Veliaj, who was not accompanied from the detention center in Durres to the GJKKO, as well as the absence of several legal defenders.

The panel of judges will decide whether or not the case will proceed to trial.

Earlier, the Special Court rejected Erion Veliaj's requests to be granted access to the prison file, as well as to remain outside the glass cage during court hearings.

SPAK accuses Veliaj of money laundering, undeclared assets, passive corruption and abuse of office, accusations that the mayor has denied, while assessing the process as unfounded.
