Evanna Hu, the American IT expert, thinks that within the infinite benefits that technology offers lies the risk and that smart cities are not always safe, so according to her, alongside the digital platforms that are created, cyber security must also be guaranteed.
"It is important to raise the awareness of policy makers and the government that more needs to be done. Not only should there be more funding for cyber security, but also the mindset of internet users needs to be changed. It's like we leave our house and don't forget to lock the door and check it right? But we don't think the same about our digital home. We finish our work online and leave the door open."
The question we all ask ourselves as we spend long hours online is are we really at risk? And the expert's answer raises the alarm to be more careful:
"Yes, you know that the more we surf online, the more we expose ourselves to cyber attacks. And here I am not only talking about attacks with political reasons, but also about random attacks that affect the data of many people online. Albania these days is being challenged in this direction and citizens' services have been affected, so we have come here to educate policy makers to integrate appropriate protective measures for online information systems", says Hu.
Evanna together with a group of American specialists from international companies in the field of online security have come to Albania to provide their assistance in finding solutions for protection from cyber attacks. During the conference, the focus will also be on encouraging municipalities to develop technological capacities and platforms./TCH
