In a special interview for the documentary on Bektashism, Prime Minister Edi Rama confirmed that the Bektashi microstate he proclaimed at the United Nations will be established in the territory where the Bektashi World Headquarters is currently located, in Tirana.
“It is only a small area of land, a few hectares, that they already own and where they have their center. But for Albania it is a very precious part of the national heritage, while for the community it is a guarantee that it will continue to exist without disappearing,” said Rama.
This microstate, with a symbolic and spiritual status, will be located within the area where the Kryegyjjata is today, on the outskirts of Tirana’s Grand Park – a place that has been the epicenter of the Bektashis in the world for decades.
Baba Mondi, the spiritual leader of this Sufi order, has welcomed the initiative, emphasizing that the creation of their own place is an act of recognition and preservation:
"We are for peace, love and coexistence. Albania is our home and this place, Kryegysjata, is our temple."
According to the documentary made by British photojournalist Robert Hackman and Dritare Tv, this microstate will be the smallest in the world and will serve as an international spiritual center for the Bektashis, attracting scholars, visitors and pilgrims from all over the world./ Dritare.net
