An Albanian in Great Britain has decided to take his former employer to court, claiming that they fired him unfairly and were racist.
Father-of-two, 48-year-old Edi Veizi worked as a housing and development officer at Glasgow City Council in Scotland.
In court, Veizi, who has British citizenship, said he will seek to clear his name, and the accusations made by former colleagues about the theft of some equipment.
He presented several e-mails where his colleagues referred to him as "Albanian" or "mafia man" accusing him of having stolen some electrical appliances.
However, no evidence was presented to the court, and even from the verification in his apartment, it did not result that Veizi had any of the stolen equipment.
His defense lawyer presented to the Court a document showing that the electrical appliances were stolen from another department, and although the Council was aware, it did not publish this fact to blame Veiz, reports voxnews.al.
He also said that he had been racially abused, calling him a "mafia man" because he was friends with the Albanian Sokol Sefaj.
The latter was the boyfriend of the British Lynda Spence, who was tortured and killed, while Sefaj died a short time later of natural causes.
Veizi admitted his friendship with him, but said that the deceased was a normal person, as long as he had not been convicted.
The 48-year-old Albanian worked in the Council from 2001 to 2019.
