Albania suspends tourist visas for Russians, the Russian embassy in Tirana

The government has made the decision to suspend tourist visas for Russian citizens.

The decision was taken at yesterday's meeting of the Council of Ministers and was announced by the Russian embassy in Tirana.

In a post on social networks, the Russian embassy announces that Albania excludes the Russian Federation from the list of countries whose citizens can enter the Republic of Albania for tourist purposes from May 1 to September 30 without issuing a visa.

Now, Russian citizens who possess regular foreign passports must issue an Albanian visa in accordance with the purpose of the trip.

ATTENTION RUSSIAN CITIZENS PLANNING TO VISIT THE REPUBLIC OF ALBANIA

With the resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania dated 20.04.2023 (entered on the same day) its Regulation no. 858 dated 29.12.2021 was amended. "On the establishment of criteria, procedures and documents for the entry, stay and treatment of foreign citizens in the Republic of Albania", which states that the Russian Federation is excluded from the list of countries whose citizens can enter the Republic of Albania for tourist purposes from May 1 to September 30 without issuing a visa.

In other words, to visit the Republic of Albania this, as well as in any other period during the year, Russian citizens who possess regular foreign passports must issue an Albanian visa in accordance with the purpose of the trip. Be careful to avoid misunderstandings!

Government decision:

DECIDE:

1. Point 3, of annex no. 3, which is attached to decision no. 858, dated 29.12.2021, of the Council of Ministers, "On determining the criteria, procedures and documentation for the entry, stay and treatment of foreigners in Republic of Albania, as amended", is amended as follows:

"3. The list of countries whose citizens enter the Republic of Albania without a visa for tourist purposes and with a passport document for a limited period/for the period from April 20 to December 31, 2023."

2. The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of the Interior are charged with the implementation of this decision.

This decision enters into force immediately and is published in the "Official Gazette".
