The national association of the blind, through its president Ndoc Bjeshka, has denounced a shocking event that happened to members of the association in Shkodër.
Ndoc Bjeshka has accused the company that administers public buses in the city of Shkodra that two days ago the billers have punched some people who are part of this association.
According to the chairman of the blind association, this ugly incident happened because the blind elderly did not pay the ticket as they are legally required to travel for free.
The head of the association of the blind called on the citizens to rise up in protests as there are no conditions in urban transport for the blind and that they are forced to sit down.
Bjeshka warned that if this situation continues then they will block the buses until this issue is resolved.
The problem of disabled people not being allowed to travel for free on city buses has been going on for years and the reason for this is that the bus company does not receive monetary compensation according to a law approved in 2014.
Article 85 of this law states that compensation must be made by the responsible body, which in this case is Shkodër Municipality.
