An Albanian mother was found with her five children in serious condition on the streets of Rome, Italy, as the local police reportedly took care of her.

The Albanian mother was found together with her five children, four girls and one boy, without eating and caught by the cold, as it is not known how long they had been on the street in the elegant neighborhood of Prati.

The police say that the 41-year-old woman stated that she had gone to Italy for a medical intervention. According to them, the intervention should have been too urgent to take this path. However, the situation still remains mysterious as the police believe that it is not only about "medical tourism" nor about emigration due to extreme poverty.

It was the police who provided them with warm meals, took blankets and beds and hosted them for a night at the Group headquarters in Via del Falco. Meanwhile, the authorities have requested temporary, social services have been activated and are working in synergy with the basic contribution of a voluntary association. The family is now a guest of a structure in the reception area of the Social Operations Hall of Rome Capital.

"Only thanks to teamwork between the institutions can we really make a difference", commented in a note the advisor for Social Policies and Health of the Capital of Rome, Barbara Funari.
