A police operation by the Guardia di Finanza with the cooperation of the American DEA has been carried out in Rome, while 10 people have been arrested, who belonged to a criminal group that dealt with the distribution of narcotics, especially cocaine.
The operation was finalized with the seizure of over 72 kg of cocaine arrived from Ecuador at the port of Civitavecchia and a marijuana plantation found inside a villa in the interior of Rome.
Furthermore, the purchase from Spain of over 50 kilograms of hashish of the "pollen" type was documented, as well as several episodes of the "wholesale" sale of narcotics, for over 30 kilograms of marijuana.
The gang, with Albanians and Italians, led and carried out the distribution of narcotics in Rome, while firearms, including Kalashnikovs, were seized.
The operation, centered on Tor Bella Monaca, began at dawn on September 4. The arrest warrants were signed by the Anti-Mafia Directorate in the District of Rome, following an investigation by the local police, with the support of the Central Organized Crime Investigation Service (SCICO) and in cooperation with the DEA.
For eight people, the judicial authority predicted prison, for one under house arrest and for the last one, the obligation to appear in the judicial police.
Charged crimes include drug trafficking and production, illegal manufacturing, possession of weapons, possession of false identification documents, theft of electricity.
The gang could rely on a significant number of "employees" - lookouts and pushers - who were responsible for managing the drug trade areas, applying methods of threats and violence against those considered rivals.
Police seized large caliber weapons such as shotguns and assault rifles such as Kalashnikovs.
