RTSH removes the news editor-in-chief, Olsjan Laskaj, AEJ reacts: Violation of
Aurora Polo, director of RTSH

The Association of European Journalists - Albanian Section (AEJ Albania) has reacted after the acting director of RTSH, Aurora Polo, dismissed the position of RTSH1 news editor-in-chief, Olsjan Laskaj.

AEJ Albania writes that this action by Director Polo is unprecedented and calls for respect for the law.

reaction

The Association of European Journalists – Albanian Section (AEJ Albania) expresses its concern regarding the latest unprecedented decision recently taken by the head of Radio Television Albania (RTSH), which violates professional standards and the rights of journalists.

Specifically, the decision of the acting Director, Aurora Polo, to remove Olsjan Laskaj from the position of RTSH1's news editor-in-chief, without a clear argument and in violation of internal regulations and legislation in force, constitutes a worrying precedent.

This action had serious consequences, negatively affecting both the professional and personal aspects of the former editor-in-chief, forcing his dismissal.

At an important moment of transition, where the appointment of the new Director General of RTSH is expected, AEJ Albania calls on the responsible structures to guarantee respect for the law and to prohibit any action motivated by personal interests or political pressures. Such an approach violates not only the rights of employees, but also the integrity and credibility of public media.

The Association of European Journalists - Albanian Section stands against any violation and demands transparency and professionalism in the management of public media institutions.

AEJ Albania will inform international partners about this situation.
